THE INN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON WINS WINE SPECTATOR’S TOP PRIZE
Inn is Grand Award recipient for 17th year in a row
Washington, VA – The Inn at Little Washington is pleased to announce that they are recipients of the 2017 Grand Award, the top prize given by Wine Spectator. This award has been granted to only 89 restaurants worldwide in 2017. The Inn has won the Grand Award each year since 1995 and is the only recipient in the Washington, DC area this year.
The Grand Award was created to shine a spotlight on restaurants that feature 1,000 or more wine selections that reflect harmony with the restaurant menu, illustrates the breadth and depth of top wine producers, and that are showcased through superior presentation.
“It is an incredible honor to be recognized once again by Wine Spectator. I’d like to express a deep and heartfelt thanks to Chef O’Connell for his ongoing support of the wine program and the standards necessary to achieve this award,” said the Inn’s Wine Director, Bill Harris.
The Inn offers more than 2,400 selections of the world’s best wine and while there is a strong focus on the best producers of Europe and California, the Inn is a proud supporter of local Virginia wineries. Among the most special bottles are: 1899 Château D’Issan, 1893 Chateau Pichon Longueville-Comtesse de Lalande, 1966 Vega-Sicilia Unico, and representatives from all of the Grand Crus of Burgundy.
“While it’s certainly possible to enjoy great food without great wine, I don’t recommend it,” said Chef Patrick O’Connell.
