Room 1 is named after culinary icon, Julia Child. Julia has stayed in this suite and celebrated birthdays at The Inn, among many other happy occasions.
Room 1 at The Inn at Little Washington, named in honor of Julia Child, is a luxurious and spacious retreat located in The Main Building. The room features a grand king-sized bed draped in rich blue and gold fabrics beneath a decorative canopy, creating a regal yet inviting atmosphere. Elegant furnishings, including a plush settee and an antique armoire, add to the room's charm, while two private balconies offer picturesque views of The Inn’s gardens and surroundings. Perfect for a romantic getaway, the room combines classic elegance with modern comforts, embodying the timeless sophistication of its namesake.
Guests are greeted with a picture of Julia in her TV series The French Chef. Not surprisingly, this room was her favorite, possibly because it has an elevator that goes directly to the kitchen below. The entryway is upholstered in a French blue-and-white toile fabric. The lavish bathroom has double vanity sinks, a walk-in shower, and a jacuzzi tub.
