The Cardinal's Nest

The Inn at Little Washington announces the unveiling of our newest guest house, The Cardinal’s Nest.
Named in tribute to the first Relais & Chateaux property in France, “La Cardinale,” The Cardinal’s Nest is a charming freestanding cottage nestled in a private garden just a stone’s throw from the Inn.
Following a meticulous, year-long resurrection of an original “summer kitchen”, dating back to the 1700s, the cottage now features two spacious bedrooms, and two luxurious baths with soaking tubs. A vaulted ceiling living room features the dramatic, ancient stone fireplace preserved from the original structure.
Also named for Virginia’s state bird, the interiors have been inspired by the plumage of the female cardinal. This elegant retreat provides a step back in time with a butler’s kitchen, private garden and cedar hot tub.
The first 50 visitors to the Nest will receive a commemorative giclée print of artist Tom Neel’s original rendering of The Cardinal’s Nest. Additionally, The Inn is offering an “Early Bird Gets The Worm” package, a limited-edition experience including a two nights stay with a special introductory rate which includes dinner in both the Inn’s Michelin 3-Star dining room and Patty O’s Café.
The miraculous resurrection of this 18th century building into a luxury accommodation is part of Patrick O’Connell’s lifelong efforts to restore the colonial village of Little Washington.
